Food Insecurity Screening Algorithms for Specific Populations
The CDC’s Nutrition and Obesity Policy Research and Evaluation Network (NOPREN) was created to foster understanding of the effectiveness of policies to prevent childhood obesity through improved access to affordable, healthier foods and beverages in child care, schools, work site and other community settings. NOPREN’s Hunger Safety Net Working Group is comprised of an interdisciplinary team of researchers and leaders committed to raising awareness of and improving nutrition policies and priorities in the hunger safety net through shared research and evaluation. Toward their mission of expanding evidence-informed policies and practices, the Working Group has created algorithms to support health care providers with addressing food insecurity in special populations, including pediatric patients, adults and patients living with diabetes.
