Challenges and Successes with Food Resource Referrals for Food-Insecure Patients with Diabetes

With clinics increasingly screening patients for food insecurity, little is known about the efficacy of this practice. This qualitative study describes the barriers which still inhibit access to community food resources for those receiving referrals. By identifying and addressing these barriers, health care providers and charitable food sources can work together to ensure food insecure patients have access to the food they need to lead a healthy life.
